TEMPLETON CENTER/EAST TEMPLETON PTO MARCH 2009 NEWSLETTER

Thank you to everyone that came to our recent meeting. Keep coming back, and bring a friend! The winning classrooms for the PTO Classroom Buddies are Ms. LaCouture for TC and there was a tie at ET between Mrs. Carruth's and Mrs. Sherwood's class.

Guest speakers Michael Gary and Darlene Dickson, on behalf of the Templeton Elementary School Building Committee, were on hand to take questions and update us on the progress of the project. The next step is to get approval for a Feasibility Study. During the May 4 Town Elections residents will have their first opportunity to vote on the Feasibility Study. There will be a Town Meeting May 12 where the Feasibility Study will need a second vote. The Feasibility Study MUST pass both votes in order to proceed. Everyone is strongly encouraged to register themselves as a voter, attend both the Election and Town Meeting and vote to get the Feasibility Study passed. Flyers and pamphlets will be distributed soon. The Committee meetings can also be viewed on Channel 8.

Spiritwear was again a great success. It was voted to move this campaign back to November next year and delivery will be in time for Christmas.

In last month's newsletter we reported that Mrs. Sherwood had received a grant for $800.00 that will be used towards the 4th grade class trip. I should mention that the grant was from Target.

Butter Braids will be distributed Monday April 6 from 3:00-7:00pm. We are in need of volunteers for distribution. Anyone able to help out please call Lori Mattson at 939-4896.

Tara Capps opened discussion on a Community Yard Sale on the TC field. Preliminary figures were discussed as $20 for a space with a table and $15 without a table. We will revisit this at next month's meeting.

Dates for the Walk-a-thon/Spirit Week have been set for Monday, May 4, for TC and Tuesday, May 5, for ET. This is also during Teacher Appreciation Week!

A vote was made to use the proceeds from the upcoming autographed football raffle for upcoming class trips.

The Scholastic Book Fair will be held during Parent/Teacher Conferences April 14-April 17 in the Templeton Center Cafeteria. More information will be sent home soon!

Hope to see everyone at our next meeting April 8th at 6:45 in the TC Cafeteria.
